Soul: Why Spark is not better than passion and vice-versa

Soul is definitely a life-changing film in so many ways. This Sunday Soul won 2 academy awards, for the best-animated feature and best original score, all endorsing its story theme of what it takes to live life to its fullest.

Soul claims that the spark of life is not your passion but instead life itself. But with our goal-oriented culture in which all of these creatives form part of, makes me wonder, which one is true?

And in my opinion, I say, you can’t ever compare both because they complement each other. Your spark is all the little things in life that tingle your heart from the inside out.

Your spark is gratitude, joy, presence. It fortifies your relationships with your peers, friends, and every human you communicate is the ability to find a way to be grateful and joyful even on those rainy days, to enjoy those boring days.

And passion is more of a plan, is putting the day-to-day in action, is the commitment, is the mental handshake between you and your future self, is investing in your future.

Spark and passion work together. Is like a marriage, passion is the commitment to be there every day, while spark is the ability to appreciate every bit of happiness in your life with your wife, the good and the bad, is the ability to be grateful for your past present, and future with her.

So next time you are pushing forward in your boredom moments at the gym, in your writing session or filmmaker stump, take a second to enjoy it and give thanks to it and bring a little joy to your Soul.
